Hurricane Delta Now Category 4

Hurricane Delta is now a monster Category 4 hurricane and is expected to make landfall Friday late afternoon in the Acadiana region of Louisiana. Going from tropical depression to Category 4 hurricane in just 36 hours, Delta Is the fastest growing hurricane to ever grace the Atlantic basin. The relatively small eye of the storm provides conditions that could encourage the storm to continue growing at an alarming rate.

Louisiana, Mississippi and a sliver of the Florida Panhandle are in the forecast path. Delta is bringing life-threatening storm surge, wind and rain. As of Tuesday, no watches or advisories were in effect for the U.S. That will likely change later this week.

Right now, predictions show little impact on the Destin Florida area weather but a slight change in direction could change that dramatically. People are recommended to keep a VERY close eye on the path of this storm and to have a plan in the event the impact area of this storm fluctuates from current predictions.

There’s even a chance it could reach Category 5 hurricane status before it makes landfall over the northeastern portion of the Yucatan peninsula tomorrow. Delta is projected to have winds in the 125 mph range when it makes landfall in the U.S.

As with all weather prediction, this is a fluid situation. We will keep you posted as things develop.
