(Destin)ation Wedding

First comes love, then comes marriage….

If you are traveling to Destin, odds are you are heading south for a vacation. Or, you might be visiting the sunshine state for another popular reason, a wedding! If you are planning a (Destin)ation wedding, we have created a list of must-haves for your wedding and also some unique information you might not have thought of before. Happy wedding planning!

First step, we recommend you take a pre-wedding trip to Destin! A trip to Destin will help you get a chance to see the various wedding venues, meet your wedding planner if you have one, and also meet your vendors. Good thing you came to the one stop shop and we can help you book your trip!

One of the most important steps is picking your venue! Destin Florida offers several different types of venue options to get married. Lucky for you, Destin provides both sand/beach and patio venue options. Also, since destination weddings are so popular here in Destin, some of our venues offer packages with everything included! This means, the venue, officiant, decor, seating, you name it! Here is a list of a variety of different Destin venues:

Sugar Beach Weddings

Gulf Beach Weddings

Destin Beach Weddings

Seashell Wedding Company

Next step is all about the food! As mentioned before, some venues provide everything all the way from the officiant to the food. Make sure when you are researching venues you ask about their food options. If your venue doesn’t offer food, they will most likely have vendor recommendations. Here are some of our reccomendations!

Emerald Coast Catering

The Eventful Planner

Culinary Catering 365

Nancy’s Catering & Events

On the list next is the florist! Flowers make for the most beautiful wedding. Whether you are going for roses, succulents, or even peonies, Destin florists can bring your dream to life. Here is a list of reliable Destin florists.

Destin Floral Designs

Couture Florals & Events

Flowers by Milk & Honey

Bloomgirl Destin

Now let’s talk about some unique aspects to your wedding. Destination weddings are already unique on their own, however, sometimes stepping outside the box just make it even more memorable. Here are some unique ideas…

Instead of the traditional cake, cater beautiful cookies for your wedding. A talented and Destin bakery known for their cookies is, Sugar and Heart Bakery. Another idea, get authentic coconut drinks straight from a coconut! You can contact the small business, Wild. They have done personalizations for gender reveals and they might even personalize for your wedding. We can all agree Florida weddings are hot! A “cool” idea to have at your destination wedding is a snow cone truck to cool off guest and also please their sweet tooth. Contact the snow cone truck, Johnny’s Snowcones for your wedding! Last, but certainly not least is an alcohol serving idea! Contact the vintage Volkswagen and unique bar on wheels, Kombi Keg 30A. You get a van that is self-serve or staffed and has beer on tap for your wedding or event! All these ideas are fun and memorable for you and your guests.

Lastly, frequently requested questions for destination wedding planning is, “Where do I go to get a marriage license and how long does it take?” The couple must apply in person at any clerk of court office in the state of Florida to obtain their application. There is a three day waiting period if either party is a Florida resident unless the couple has obtained a premarital course certificate prior to applying for the license. Non-Florida residents can receive a wedding license immediately with a current out of state driver’s license. Each party must be 18 years or older.

Here is the address, hours, and contact information for the Okaloosa County Clerk of Court.

  • Okaloosa County Courthouse
1940 Lewis Turner Blvd 3rd Floor Room 3B
    Fort Walton Beach, Fl 32547
