Everyone loves Destin’s newest water tower (Tower 5) located at 719 Forest Street. The stunning mural created by artist Eric Henn includes a sea turtle, dolphin, various species of fish and a coral reef covering the vast canvas of the tower. The colors and subject matter perfectly reflect what is most important to the community the tank will serve: the emerald waters of the gulf and life it sustains.
For two decades, the Tnemec Corporation has conducted an annual municipal water tank competition deemed “Tank of the Year” with an accompanying “People’s Choice” award. The “Tank of the Year” is selected based on artistic value, significance of the tank to the community, and challenges encountered during the project. This year’s “Tank of the Year” winner will be announced on 10/23/2020. The “People’s Choice” award winner will be announced on 10/19/2020 and is based on internet voting.
As of this writing, Destin’s water tank Tower 5 is currently placing second in People’s Choice portion of the competition. You don’t have to be an artist to appreciate the care and diligence that went into creating a mural that so effectively communicates the essence of the Emerald Coast. Let’s show the artist our support after he worked so hard to transform the mundane into the beautiful just for us! Vote for the mural on Destin’s water tank (Tower 5) at the link below:
